Influence of Different Modes of Oxygenation of the Small Intestinal Mucosa in vitro on Glucose and Maltose Accumulation
نویسنده
چکیده
Glucose accumulation by the everted sacs of the rat small intestine has been investigated during mucosal, serosal and bilateral oxygenations. The conditions are described under which active accumulation of glucose is provided by serosal but not only mucosal oxygenation. It has been found that the active accumulation of glucose during the bilateral oxygenation is approximately equal to the sum of those during the serosal and mucosal oxygenations. The relative roles of the serosal and mucosal modes of oxygenation vary in the fed and fasting animals, as well as in the different segments of the small intestine. The results obtained may be explained by the hypothesis on the existence of two types of cell respiration — apical and basolateral.

Effects of Iron Oxide Nano-Particles on the Intestinal Tissue of Common Carp, Cyprinus Carpio
Background: The application of nano-particles (NPs) in various industries is growing. Since their toxicity is not clearly understood, they can cause adverse effects on the environment. The aim of this study was to evaluate the histopathological effects of iron oxide nano-particles on the small intestine of common carp, Cyprinus carpio. Methods: Four experimental treatments were designed (15 ...

Fermentation characteristics of four strains of brewer's yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain 70424, S.rouxii strain 2535, S. rouxii strain 2531 and Saccharomyces ludwigii strain 3447) in Yeast Moldbrothcontaining four different fermentable sugars (glucose, fructose, maltose, or sucrose) were studied. Theaim was to consider the suitability of different strain/sugar treatment...
متن کاملMetabolism of circulating disaccharides in man and the rat.
The metabolism of circulating disaccharides was studied in adult humans and rats. After iv infusions of 10 g of either lactose, sucrose, or maltose in four adults, no rise in blood glucose was noted. A mean of 8.7+/-1.89 g of the lactose and 6.3+/-1.39 g of the sucrose was excreted in the 24-hour urine sample. Only 0.11+/-0.03 g of the infused maltose was recovered in the urine, suggesting that...
متن کاملGastrointestinal digestion of starch. I. The action of oligo-1,6-glucosidase on branched saccharides.
Digestion of starch in mammals occurs chiefly in the mouth and small intestine through the catalytic activity of ar-amylase and maltase (a-glucosidase). Extensive cw-amylolysis of amylose and amylopectin results in the formation of maltose, glucose, and a mixture of branched oligosaccharides (cr-amylase dextrins) (1). The latter compounds, whose structure is currently being investigated by seve...
متن کاملSeparation Efficiency of Glucose and Maltose from Industrial Effluent by Granular Activated Carbon
This paper describes the performance of Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) to adsorb and separate glucose and maltose solutes from the industrial effluents by adsorption process. In this study, the capability of Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) to adsorb glucose and maltose were experimentally examined. Commercial GAC (mesh 12-20), supplied by Sigma Aldrich company in...
